The Hastings Opportunity Area Partnership Board has launched a £250,000 attendance fund for early years settings, schools, colleges to address the issue of improving attendance for children and young people in Hastings. Evidence-based literacy fund

Early years settings, schools and colleges are invited to bid for funding to implement evidence based approaches to improve literacy. Bids are invited for sums between £2,000 and £50,000. The guidance and application form can be found here.

Breakfast clubs

The Department for Education has also announced funding to help schools set up and run Breakfast Clubs. Family Action, in partnership with Magic Breakfast, have both been named as the charities that will run the clubs.  Schools should submit the attached expression of interest and send to nsbp@family-action.com. Successful schools will receive:

  • A start-up grant of £500 for all schools.
  • Schools who do not currently have healthy, sustainable breakfasts already in place will receive free breakfasts. The contractor will work with schools to put a longer term, sustainable plan in place.
  • Some schools may be eligible for additional support on the basis of a thorough needs assessment.
