Improving mental health and resilience
Priority years 1-3
During local consultations before the Opportunity area programme began, children’s mental health was identified as a priority. Schools reported that pupils were presenting with mental health and emotional wellbeing concerns from a much younger age, and with little or no access to early intervention support.
We initiated a programme which included:
- Further expansion of the award-winning i-Rock service for 14-25 year olds
- Developing a service for younger children (aged 9-14) experiencing emotional wellbeing issues delivered through schools
- Expanding the existing parenting programme
- Delivering a training and support programme across Hastings’ schools, developing whole-school approaches to promoting mental health.
