The Hastings and St Leonards School’s Attendance Charter, The Multi-agency Attendance Charter for Community Partners and the Hastings Attendance Pledge, is a collaborative approach to promote good school attendance across Hastings so that all children and young people can fulfil their potential.

Hastings Attendance Pledge

The Hastings Attendance Pledge is a collaborative approach to improving school attendance and promoting the benefits of attending school across the Hastings community.

Community organisations signing the pledge commit to promoting the importance of school attendance and set out what they will do to actively support positive attendance within the community and to support all of our local schools.

Aims of the Attendance Pledge:

  • For community organisations that are working with local children, young people and their families to actively support and promote Hastings wide programmes that encourage school attendance; and
  • support schools, organisations and the wider community to improve school attendance.

Promoting positive attendance at school – School offers so much. Every day matters!

Working in partnership with East Sussex County Council a new positive attendance campaign has been developed – School offers so much. Every day matters! This campaign aims to highlight the wider benefits of regular school attendance. The campaign features on social media, on bus shelters and on local radio advertising.

Multi-agency Attendance Charter for Community Partners

The Multi-agency Attendance Charter is a collaborative approach to promote good school attendance across the Hastings community. Key partner organisations signed up to commit to multi-agency working to address underlying issues facing families and communities, including a commitment to active engagement with a wider team around the child.  Taking a whole family approach to supporting children and families with more complex or entrenched needs. The charter can be signed as well as the community pledge to enhance an organisations detail of their attendance support commitment.

Aims of the Multi-agency Attendance Charter:

  • Multi-agency partners agree to support schools with a partnership approach to implement it
  • promote a town-wide positive approach to good school attendance
  • encourage good school attendance to keep children safe from harm
  • reduce the number of children missing education unnecessarily
  • create a network where information can be shared to provide support.

The Attendance Charter recognises that improvements in overall attendance rates in our schools can only be achieved through a partnership approach. This will involve schools and other agencies working with children and families across the town working together. Please contact us if you would like sign up to the charter.

Hastings Attendance Charter for Schools

The Hastings Attendance Charter is a collaborative approach to promote good school attendance across Hastings, so that all children and young people can fulfil their potential. All schools and their relevant Trusts in Hastings and St Leonards, signed up to the Attendance Charter. The charter sets out a shared set of principles and practices that all schools will implement to ensure a consistent approach to attendance.

The Hastings-wide charter enables all schools and professionals to work together to further promote positive outcomes for pupils. It demonstrates the commitment from all Hastings headteachers/principals to promote key messages and a consistent approach to attendance across the town.

Aims of the Hastings Attendance Charter:

  • School leaders and governors agree to work together to implement it
  • East Sussex Local Authority agree to support schools to implement it
  • promote a town-wide positive approach to good school attendance
  • encourage good school attendance to keep children safe from harm
  • reduce the number of children missing education unnecessarily.
